RE: Any good Catia viewer solid7 (Mechanical)8 Jun 05 02:57OOPS! I forgot to mention - I did just get V5R15 last week - in case you thought I was looking in some prior version. Thanks again. RE: Any good Catia viewer catiajim (Aerospace)8 Jun 05 08:003DXML is not yet available from DS. I has only been announced as a future product (i.e. Vaporware) :-( RE: Any good Catia viewer solid7 (Mechanical)8 Jun 05 10:14Hmm... That's funny. I just visited the Dassault website, and THEY say that it's currently available in V5R15. They even have a video presentation showing EXACTLY how it works. What did *I* miss? RE: Any good Catia viewer astronomer (Aerospace)8 Jun 05 17:24Have you checked out e-drawing?The publisher costs money the viewer is free.www.solidworks.com/pages/programs/eDrawings/e2_register.html RE: Any good Catia viewer solid7 (Mechanical)8 Jun 05 18:17Well, I was hoping that after paying $25,000 this year for software and licensing, I wouldn't have to look anywhere else. :)I'm really looking for the functionality that's already available in the existing package. I suspect, however, that it's an advanced functionality of the DMU type, which I don't have a licensed product for.My goal is to use the XML, ONLY if I can use it easily. Otherwise, it's a far off goal, with no real priority.Thank you for your response, though. RE: Any good Catia viewer jtil (Mechanical)9 Jun 05 09:473Dxml is several service packs away (if we're lucky) Of the solutions mentioned here we have tried the ones from Actify and eDrawings. Also tried the solution from Cimmetry. Edrawings seems to be the best of the lot.Until 3Dxml is released you can try the poorman's method.Save your CATPart to a STL file format and view the result in a free viewer. (I reccomend DeskArtes View Expert. www.deskartes.com. You can measure and section with it)If you need to put a CATProduct into a STL then use the Product to Part under the Tools menu in the Assembly workbench. Note: control the STL using the performance selections under tools->options->display.Jim RE: Any good Catia viewer virtual3d (Marine/Ocean)9 Jun 05 09:503D XML will be available mid June on SP1 in the V5 infra withtout any additional charges - DS will provide also a free basic player as UGS and others did...keep tuned on the 3ds.com sitelordrailie if you're looking for a viewer with measure/section capabilities have a look to the P1 product : -solutions/plm-solutions/enovia/all-products/domain/DMU_Solutions/product/DW1/?no_cache=1&cHash=46ce2c779d or the 3dcom product line as catiajm mentioned earlier ... -solutions/plm-solutions/enovia/all-products/domain/ENOVIA_3d_com/?no_cache=1&cHash=5225d38acb RE: Any good Catia viewer lordrailie (Marine/Ocean)(OP)9 Jun 05 17:15Its amazing that a software that is that expensive, does not provide a viewer. What I am doing at the moment is to save as wrl, a view it in cortona viewer or similar, but i didnt find yet a tool where to measure and section wrl files googletag.cmd.push(function() googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1406030293255-2'); ); Red Flag This PostPlease let us know here why this post is inappropriate. Not only does SolidView/Pro make viewing, measuring and modifying Catia V5 files easier than ever, it also allows you to communicate and collaborate on your projects by publishing them into the SVD (SolidView Document) format. The SVD file can then be viewed and manipulated by anyone using our FREE SolidView/Lite viewer.
The professional 3D interfaces in the converter and the viewer are continuously updated to the latest file formats and make employees independent of expensive CAD workstations in development and design.
The viewer serves as a flexible interface between 3D CAD systems and 3D printing software in rapid prototyping. The viewer also offers a special RP layout tool for arranging multiple models on a rapid prototyping platform.
The viewer allows users of 3D rendering software such as Arnold, Blender, Cinema4D and Maya to import 3D CAD models.
Publishing as a 3D PDF file for Adobe Reader enables distribution and archiving of 3D models in the universal PDF format.
Hi Leon, \\nsome tips from my side: \\npls decide between CATIA V4 (*.model) and CATIA V5 (*.CATpart or *CATproduct or *.CATdrawing) file. V4 und V5 are different CAD systems. \\n \\nThen you have to implement a CAD viewer like Christoph describes. ECL can not work with lots of CAD native files ? ... no Pro/ENGINEER, no CATIA, no STEP, no IGES. \\n \\nSecond option is to include a conversion process. \\n \\nE.g. you convert as following: \\nCATpart => STL \\nCATproduct =>STL \\nCATdrawing => PDF \\n \\nThen you can run this by standard ECL viewer. But with STL you lost many features, like measuring, hiding parts in an assembly and many more. \\n \\nNote: you need a CAD conversion engine for this. \\n \\nThird option: \\nYou can also work on 3D-PDF on this ... if this is possible on your requests. \\n \\nMoreover to this, you can also implent a right hemisphere conversion server engine to convert CAD file to RH-files (*.rh) files and use the new SAP visual enterprise viewer which can be also embedded into SAPgui. \\n \\nLook at this licensable feature on this pages for a short view \\n -nutzen-der-3d-bilder-bei-sap-plm.html \\n \\nIf you prefer to use a stand alone CAD viewer I can recommend you Actify's Spinfire. \\nHere you can see a demo on our system. \\n \\nThe viewer supports a floating license mechanism, so you need only 1-3 licenses on up to 50-100 users depending on your requirements. \\n \\n \\n \\nRegards \\nMarkus \\n \\nP.S. pls rate if this was helpful ... thank you.\",\"author\":\"username\":\"markus.deuter\",\"displayName\":\"Markus Deuter\",\"groupIcons\":[],\"suspended\":false,\"isCurrentUser\":false,\"id\":12006090,\"posted\":1444571383000,\"votes\":1,\"isAccepted\":false,\"isLocked\":false,\"userVoted\":\"\",\"relations\":\"score\":1,\"canCancelAccept\":false,\"canUnlock\":false,\"canUseDelete\":false,\"canVoteDownOrCancel\":false,\"canLock\":false,\"canAccept\":false,\"type\":\"answer\",\"canVoteUpOrCancel\":false,\"isCurrentUserAuthor\":false,\"attachments\":[\"id\":1428431,\"fileName\":\"Demo.JPG\",\"size\":\"102.1 kB\",\"url\":\"/storage/attachments/1428431-Demo.JPG\",\"isImage\":true]},\"body\":\"Dear Leon,if you want to view CATIA files a working viewer for these file types must be called.
